DESCRIPTION:
The Server Administrator takes charge of the overall control of the server. The scope of responsibilities include configuration, installation, and maintenance of the company’s server operating systems and all related systems software. The person in this job analyzes and resolves problems involved with server hardware/software and applications software and ensures scalability and appropriate integration with other systems. The Server Admin installs new software releases and system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches, and resolves software related problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

Performs software and hardware installations following established policies and guidelines.

Troubleshoots and resolves hardware/Server Operating system issues.

Develops, tests, implements, and maintains server and desktop images for deployment

Manages projects within deadlines and provides weekly project status reports to management.

Develops, tests, implements, and maintains application deployment packages (server and desktop)
-
Analyzes performance of the environment and provide recommendations for improvement.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATION:
-
5 + years’ experience in a technical support position in a large client/server environment
-
Enterprise experience with Linux, Windows Server Platform: 2003 and 2008 required; 2012 experience highly desirable

Demonstrated knowledge of deploying and maintaining Linux and Windows Server environment comprised of servers running both commercial and internally developed software.

Expert level proficiency with Linux and MS Windows 2003, 2008

Understanding of virtualization technologies (VMWare)

Scripting skills (WMI, Powershell, VBScript, ADSI, DOS shell)

Networking protocols (HTTP/S, FTP, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)

Experienced deploying and managing server virtualization technology

Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively throughout the organization regarding technical matters.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Strong analytical, research and problem solving skills.

Ability to handle multiple tasks while prioritizing and delivering results on time.
